Our President is Pro-Sex-Selective Abortion

Watch this video.  Rep. Trent Franks says something very interesting at 1:27:

"It is my hope that by protecting unborn children from being aborted based on their sex, that one day very soon we will also recognize the humanity injustice of aborting unborn children based on their race and color as well and simply because we recognize them as fellow human beings."

Why is our president against PRENDA?  It seems so obvious that he would be for it (especially since he has only girls).  Well, for one, Planned Parenthood is against it and we all know the romance going on between the two.  For another, if we can discriminate against an unborn child, that means the child is worth something more than an appendix.  It leads us to recognize the humanness of an unborn child therefore making abortion wrong. 

And if the president says that abortion is wrong, he loses the support of Planned Parenthood.

Isn't that nice.

Part Two of Live Action's Protect Our Girls Videos

After the last video was released, it came out the Planned Parenthood was very displeased with the employee in the video:

The anti-abortion group Live Action released Tuesday its latest undercover video aimed at discrediting Planned Parenthood. The edited video shows a Planned Parenthood staff member apparently counseling a woman about gender-selective abortion.

"I see that you're saying that you want to terminate if it's a girl, so are you just wanting to continue the pregnancy in the meantime?" says a counselor, identified only as Rebecca, in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Austin, Texas.

The woman, purported to be in the first trimester of her pregnancy, according to Live Action, says she does not know the gender of her fetus but wants to abort if it turns out to be female.

"The abortion covers you up until 23 weeks," says Rebecca, "and usually at five months is usually (sic) when they detect, you know, whether or not it's a boy or a girl."

The staffer recommends to the woman that she "just continue and try again" if her fetus turns out to be female.

"Good luck, and I hope that you do get your boy," Rebecca says.

In a statement, Planned Parenthood's vice president of education, Leslie Kantor, said the staffer was in an entry-level job and is no longer working for the organization. She "did not follow our protocol for providing information and guidance when presented with a highly unusual patient scenario," the statement says.

The incident occurred six weeks ago and swift action was taken, Kantor adds. "Within three days of this patient interaction, the staff member's employment was ended and all staff members at this affiliate were immediately scheduled for retraining in managing unusual patient encounters."

The statement continues, "Gender bias is contrary to everything our organization works for daily in communities across the country. Planned Parenthood opposes racism and sexism in all forms, and we work to advance equity and human rights in the delivery of health care. Planned Parenthood condemns sex selection motivated by gender bias, and urges leaders to challenge the underlying conditions that lead to these beliefs and practices, including addressing the social, legal, economic, and political conditions that promote gender bias and lead some to value one gender over the other."

To quote my supervisor at my Crisis Pregnancy Center, "It's amazing how many "entry-level" employees they have going against their values."

While they may not actually agree with sex-selective abortion, the problem I think comes when they train their employees to not judge their clients.  If the customer is always right, then even ones who are wrong are right.  At least, that's my take on it.

Breaking News: PP Approves of Sex-Selective Abortions

Yesterday, Live Action came out with their latest undercover video about a woman who allegedly went into Planned Parenthood seeking an abortion if her baby was not a boy.  Check it out:




That's not all.  Congress is voting TODAY to ban sex-selective abortions from the U.S. once and for all.  Here's the beginning of an article from Life News published today:

One day after a new video exposing how Planned Parenthood encourages women to have sex-selection abortions, the House of Representatives will vote on legislation that would ban such abortions in the United States.


The House will consider the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, a bill to ban sex-selection abortions, that was introduced by pro-life Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and was approved by the House Judiciary Committee on February 16. Because H.R. 3541 will be considered on the Suspension Calendar, a two-thirds majority will be necessary for passage.


Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser condemned Planned Parenthood for its role in encouraging sex-selection abortions and said the new Live Acton video is evidence they need to be banned. The video shows abortion clinic workers employed by Planned Parenthood willing to perform abortions based on gender.


“Could there be any greater discrimination against women than targeting girls for death before birth?” Dannenfelser asked.


She told LifeNews, “Regardless of one’s position on abortion—left, right, pro-life, pro-choice—we can agree that women’s constitutional right to equal protection should, at a minimum, protect us from prenatal death. We call on Congress to immediately end the injustice of sex-selective abortion. The position should be pre-political and is common ground from which only a radical minority dissents.”


Dannenfelser said even prominent Democrats have supported such a ban, noting that in 1990, longtime abortion-rights advocate and then gubernatorial candidate Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said she opposed the practice and would consider outlawing it.


In an interview with the New York Times, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lamented the occurrence of sex-selective abortion in India and China saying “…unfortunately, with technology, parents are able to use sonograms to determine the sex of a baby, and to abort girl children simply because they’d rather have a boy. Some of the latest news...

Chen Guangcheng.  If you haven't heard of him, Chen is a Chinese anti-abortion advocate.  An advocate with his cause is not very much appreciated in China, a country well-known for it's one-child policy.  I probably won't have time to write a whole post on him myself, but please look at this awesome article about Chen on Abort73:

The confusion comes when our own president, a very pro-choice, pro-abortion, pro-Planned Parenthood president grants Chen Guangcheng safe travel to America because of Chen's stance on abortion.  I'm guessing we probably never will understand how that even makes sense, but the irony is huge. 

Chen Guangcheng has been given visas for him and his family.

Mammograms.  Sounds like Planned Parenthood is finally getting going on those mammograms they've been promising us for a while.  However, the case still stands that it's only because the Komen Foundation is giving them to Planned Parenthood, and that only in Phoenix, Arizona.  It's still unclear though as to who actually will be conducting the mammograms, Planned Parenthood or Komen?  To read more, click here.

China Sells "Health Pills" Made from Aborted Babies

China and South Korea are now using the bodies of aborted babies (aborted inside or outside the womb) to make a "health pill" to sell to people who need extra energy.  The process includes drying up the bodies and making them into powder that is put into a pill.  On further scientific investigation, researchers were able to find hair and finger nail pieces and even determine the gender of the baby from the DNA.

I can barely believe I was actually able to type that.

On a slightly related note, China has 13 million abortions every year.  And we thought 1 million a year was a big number.  Well, it is a big number, so 13,000,000 is an even bigger one.

That thing way out there called politics?

Say whaaaa???  Yeah, I had almost forgotten about politics, until of course I realized it was 2012 and election year (and I still can't vote!) and there are all these republicans running for that job called Mr. President and I'm not impressed with them.  I've grown up believing that all republicans are good and all democrats are bad (except for my Great Uncle/Grandpa), buuut, I'm starting to think otherwise.  How many politicians can lie to everyone's faces before our country falls apart?  So, I'm thinking I might be not republican and not democrat, but what I think they call independent.  Because, I don't trust almost anyone anymore!

Anyways, so the other day at Life Services (update coming soon!) my supervisor, Janine, asked me to do some research on a bill that was being voted for over in Olympia, WA (so just a state bill for my the state of Washington).  The bill, if passed, is going to force all insurance companies in the state of Washington to cover abortion costs with no limit whatsoever except for the general policies, (i.e. the amount of money that is provided per year).  Janine was having trouble finding it, and it took me probably 15 or 20 minutes just to get the bill number.  In the past, when I have searched a bill that I didn't know the number of, I usually was able to find it quickly.  This time it was different.  No article that I found included the bill number, and only one included a link to the .gov site where it was posted.  Plus, even though a public hearing was scheduled on Friday, the 19th, there were no recent reports on the outcome, the only articles I found were written before Friday.  We even called a prolife, conservative representative's legislative office, and when the legislative assistant searched the bill for us, he found that the vote count was not posted.  He stated that that was very strange. 

The next week, I sent an email to the legislators who would be voting on the bill that day.  That night, I watched the hearing.  The chair (who was the most supportive of the bill) ignored one of the committee members who asked to postpone the vote so as to not risk losing federal dollars since he wasn't sure if the bill was quite legal.  She promptly said, "Well, sorry, I'll look at that, but will pass it anyway."  It was passed, went to the Senate, and was passed there.  Unfortunately, they picked the perfect time to bring up this bill since a gay marriage bill was just signed into law by the governor (THAT'S a whole different story itself, ugh).  So, that is overtaking the news, and I have heard nothing in the news about the insurance bill.  I just visited the site, and the last thing it has on the schedule is that it was relieved from the Rules Committee and placed on second reading.  I'll keep you all posted on what happens.  (And if you live in WA, please consider emailing your legislators about it!  For a sample email, email me at, well, you should know the email address by now, lol.)

Seeing the liberal side of things...

I know, I know, we keep bringing up the topic of Komen and how they defunded Planned Parenthood and then buckled and how the whole situation is really just like girls in junior high.  BUT, something happened that I'm super duper excited about (like I was literally screaming for like an hour and a half about it).  I searched for a liberal magazine and found The Nation.  The Nation had like a gazillion articles about the Komen controversy, and even they were negative.  Well, I found this one.  It talked a lot about feminism and "anti-choice" and how women and the pro-choice movement are being suffocated to death.  Well, haha, if you've been reading this blog for a while, you might be able to guess that I like debating, especially about these specific topics.  So yeah, I took them on.

Here's what I said:

Women are more well-off than they have ever been (they have never had it better). I don't say that as a white republican man. I am a teen girl who is being manipulated by the feminists (as are all the rest of teen girls) who whine and complain about losing $680,000 when that is only 1/20 of 1% of the donations.


If you are so keen on pro-choice victory, come live in Washington State, where a 13-year-old girl is not allowed to get a tooth pulled or her ears pierced without a guardian's permission, but is allowed to go through with a more life-threatening procedure, abortion, without having to tell anyone. The state that is ranked with the most pro-choice activism in the country. The state that will most likely be requiring all insurance companies (even religious ones) to cover abortion in every single plan. The state that is trying to require all Pregnancy Resource Centers to tell clients every single service they *don't* offer. The state where a gay marriage bill has passed both the House and the Senate without any proposed amendments and is just awaiting the governor's signature (and this means that when I get married, I'll have to "take this man to be my lawful wedded spouse" rather than husband--THAT is not romantic, at all).

How, I ask, are any of these laws pro-choice? (Other than the one about the 13-year-old girl, but then, how many 13-year-old girls do you know that are mature and capable of making decisions other than which boy likes them and what to wear the next day?) Choice does not include restrictions. Choice means choice. And educated choice, in regards to abortion, most definitely includes an ultrasound before making a decision to have a surgery performed by a traveling doctor.

I admit, honestly, I do, that many pro-lifers are quite anti-choice, and the only thing that matters to them is saving babies. I would agree with you in saying there are anti-choice people in this country, many, in fact. But you are only digging yourself into a hole when you try to pass legislation that is so obviously anti-choice.

I am a female, I am not feminist, and I am pro-life. Fancy that.

Sooo, I got several replies.  They were all across the board, one that didn't believe I was a teenager and screamed at me, and one that told me how great I was.  One thing I learned from this, it is GREAT experience to read about issues from the opposing side.  You either find a fault in your argument that you can change and gain a new understanding of your opponents, or, you are able to form arguments against their points.  Seriously, read up!  I encourage you to go back and read the article if you haven't already, and read the comments it got.  They are quite interesting, may I just say.
 
And if you're wondering why I was screaming, well, I am too.  But hey, it is an exciting experience to be yelled at by a pro-choicer.... okay, really, not even joking.  I know, I'm a nerd.

Komen Foundation Defunds Planned Parenthood! but then doesn't...

Have you heard about the Susan G. Komen foundation issue of late, and wondered why I haven't posted about it?  So have I.  I've been pretty busy and I don't have much time to write about it right now (although I've been following it closely, and have lots of thoughts about it that will come later).

For those of you who don't know, here's an earlier article about it when the news first came out that Komen was discontinuing funds to Planned Parenthood.  However, it has since come out that Komen was bombarded so heavily, that they have gone back on the announcement, and I've even heard that they are raising their donation!

P.S. I just read in an email from Planned Parenthood itself (I accidentally got signed up for PP's emails) that $3 million were donated to PP in 3 days!  This was after Komen said they'd stop donating.  The money came from other organizations and individual supporters.  Wow, if you think about it, that's basically $1 million more that they can spend on every abortion they do for the next eight and a half years!  They say the money will go to help breast cancer services that they do (those services are basically fictional), but in reality, that is $3 million they don't have to spend on other services that they can spend on abortions.  This situation seems like so out of our control and so bad that we couldn't do anything to stop any bad that's happening.  Please pray that God will work something good out of this!

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is coming!  In four days, in fact.  A lot of our churches will have baby bottles from their local Crisis Pregnancy Centers so that church-goers can fill one with loose change.  Some pastors might be giving a special prolife message, or a prolife video may be played at the beginning of service.  What did your church do?  Comment on this post!

Could all of us pray that this Sunday will be one to remember?  Could we pray that God would call on believers to give of their time and money to help girls and babies in need?  Could we pray that this Sunday would bless the Crisis Pregnancy Center workers who work (mostly without being paid) day in, day out, to reach out to girls who are in crisis and who need the Gospel?  Could we pray that this, the 39th anniversary of the historical bill, Roe v. Wade, would blow the world away because of our (the Church's) response to the prolife message talked about near and far?

Why Christians?

What makes fighting abortion our responsibility?  We're not supposed to be in the world, right?

Wrong.

Yes, you read correctly.  And you might be going, "Whaaa??"

Me too, for a while.  Christ tells us to be in the world, but not of it.

So now you get it.

Some examples to back up my point.  Think of almost any godly character in the Bible: Moses. Abraham. Lot. Joseph. Jacob. Isaac. Daniel (big one here!).

I was reading on Abby Johnson's blog the other day (abbyjohnson.org) and I came across this post:

Last year, I took my whole family to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., including my 4 year old daughter, Grace.  She frequently goes out to the abortion clinics with me to pray.  She knows what it means to be pregnant.  She has a very simplified understanding of abortion.  She had never been exposed to any graphic signs.  I knew she would be at the March for Life.  I didn’t know what she would say or how she would handle it, but I didn’t want to hide them from her.

40 Days for Life story

Are you familiar with the book, The Scarlet Letter?  It really is an amazing piece of literature, and it has to do so much with what is happening in the pro-life movement!  It offered me so much insight about the problems we face today in the pro-life movement.  This piece of gold in particular I'm going to share with you.

...You read correctly.  I met Abby Johnson!!  I think I have the right to scream.

So, story behind that. 

I'm going to be starting volunteer work at my local Crisis Pregnancy Center (well I guess I already kind of have, sort of), next Monday.  I'm going to be the Administrative Assistant for the Volunteers Coordinator (I know, fancy title, and I'm only a volunteer, haha) which I'm super super super excited about.

Sometimes, when two sides of an argument sounds so right it is very hard to figure out who really is.  After all, someone has to be right!

The Holocaust of Jews and the Holocaust of Babies

Sorry it's been so long since we've posted!

So, recently, we received an email from Ray Comfort, the founder of Living Waters, an organization dedicated to helping Christian churches learn how to reach out to their communities.  Mr. Comfort has also made a video about abortion and the Holocaust.  He interviewed several people on their thoughts on the Holocaust, abortion, and morality. 
Here is kind of a summary of the video, and my thoughts on it.

You all know who Adolf Hitler was, right?  Two years ago, I read a book that was basically his diary called Mein Kampf which means My Struggle.  This book is huge, I'm looking at it right now.  It's big, black and about three inches thick.  And it is filled to brimming with reasons why Hitler hated the Jews.  Why Hitler killed 6 million Jews.  Yes, he killed 6 million Jews.

He didn't just kill Jews though.  The common number of deaths associated with the Holocaust is 11 million.  In a span of four years alone (from 1941-1945), 11 million innocent people were killed for no reason at all except that they were a nuisance, and the Nazis didn't want them around.  And all this was caused by the government of Germany.

You might start to see now what the Holocaust has in common with abortion.

Now fast-forward about 30 years.  1973 saw abortion become legal in the United States.  That year, 1.25 million abortions were performed.  The next year, that number increased by 100,000.  Every year, the number of abortions grew to reach a peak of 1,700,000 abortions performed in 1990.  Now, on average, about 1.2 million babies die a year due to abortion in the United States alone.

So, we have two somewhat different scenarios: the Holocaust of Jews, and the Holocaust of babies.  I would call this reckless abortion of babies a holocaust because the definition of "holocaust" according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary (11th edition) is, "A thorough destruction involving extensive loss of life" or "A mass slaughter of people; esp Genocide."  This seems to describe both scenarios.

Now we come to what is really similar about both.  Hitler claimed that Jews were not human, they were a race, yes, and they were alive, yes, but they were not human.  Sound familiar?  Insert "fetus" for "Jews" and you have almost exactly what the majority of Americans say about a baby in the womb!

Would you say that the intended murdering of a Jew is wrong?  I'm assuming, yes.  Would you say that the intended murdering of a "fetus" is wrong?  Some would adamantly say, "Yes!"  Some would say, "That is a tricky subject," or "That's completely different."  But is it?  You have to decide for yourself.

LOVE will overcome abortion: Part 1

Mother Teresa is probably a person who I should know much more about.  She is a blessed person and someone who loved the people of this world much like Jesus Christ did.  For that I respect her.  She never stopped trying to love people.  She just loved people!  I can definitely learn a lot from her!

So, I am reading this book called ProLife Answers to ProChoice Arguments by Randy Alcorn.  When I am done, I'll write a book review on it.  I've barely gotten out of the introduction and I would already recommend it to anyone!  But in this book, there is an excerpt from a speech Mother Teresa made at the 1994 National Prayer Breakfast.  Just the little bit that was in the book inspired me, so I decided to look for the rest.  I found the entire speech here.  It. is. amazing.  And it's not just about abortion.  Wouldn't you know it?  It's about love!  And it reminded me of something:

Day before last was the Fourth of July.  Different people have different things that they do on the Fourth and my family goes to a huge park called Riverfront Park that is in downtown Spokane, the city that I live in.  The park has a band come every year and a big fire works show and lots of booths where you can buy food and crafts and different things and it's really fun!  But there are also many, many people that smoke, get drunk, break rules, wear immodest clothing, and well, you get the picture.  These kinds of people scare me and disgust me.  For one, I'm not used to people like that, the "normal" people for me are Christian people who go to church regularly, don't smoke or have tattoos, don't swear constantly, and are law-abiding citizens that have a job.  So the contrast between those people and the people at the park last night was, shall we say, quite distinct.  After I got tired of all those people looking at me and coming too close to me, I sat down on the ground and hid behind my family. 

Then I prayed for every person that walked past me.  I wish I could say that I did this like God wants me to, humbly and lovingly, but I really didn't.  It was kind of an excuse to hide and I still felt that I was above them and better than them.  It is true that most of those people are to blame for the way that they are living, but does that make me any better than them?  After all, Jesus came for sinners, and sometimes the worst of sinners can understand and appreciate His love better than the best of them.  Mother Teresa, in her speech, paints a beautiful picture of what love should look like.  She was not afraid of picking up people on the streets and loving them as Christ commanded.  She had the courage to love, even those who were beneath her.

I have realized that I do not have the courage to love.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will give me that courage.  I pick and choose who I want to love, and the people at the park last night did not fit into my category of the people who "deserve" my love.  The problem is, I didn't realize that I don't deserve to love them!  Or, for that matter, to be loved by Christ, my Savior, the Man who loved me and everyone else (including those people I think are beneath me) enough to die.  So why am I writing this?

I am writing this because the Church (in America, in general) does the same thing to women who have become pregnant and who have had an abortion.  We judge.  We condemn.  Like we have any right at all to condemn those women!  We feel that we are above those women.  The Pastors in our Churches don't preach on abortion because they feel uncomfortable with it.  But this communicates to women who have had an abortion that their sin is too big for God to forgive.  This is why the best way to combat abortion right now is to love!  Making abortion illegal will help, I'm not saying we shouldn't try for that, but will that fix the real problem?  People (both girls and guys) are trying to find worth in dating and sex and when they make a mistake, they try to fix it with abortion.  Making abortion illegal won't stop people from trying to find worth in a boyfriend or a girlfriend.  But love will.  I encourage you to try to help those struggling in your school, and in your Church.  God calls on us to love, so please, love.

Email President Obama and Secretary of Human Resources, Katherine Sebelius

So, anyone heard about how there have been four states so far who have completely cut funding for Planned Parenthood?

Yes!  And Indiana was the first.  Obviously, as the first, Indiana is getting the hardest time from President Obama and his secretary of human resources, Katherine Sebelius.

So, this is our job.  We're going to do something similar to what we did on June 17.  Except this is exciting.  We're going to email the President and Katherine Sebelius!

So, while researching abortion one day not too long ago, I came across this website: http://abort73.com/.  I was so excited when I found it!  I have been looking for a long time for a website that has lots of information, and basic information, one that assumes you have no idea what you're talking about, so uses basic words that the average person would understand.  And this website was exactly what I had been looking for.  But it went above and beyond what I thought it would!  Not only does it offer information (and it has a lot of information!), but it also has very educational videos!  And that's not all!  It sells different items like clothing, waterbottles, and bags (and has free graphic buttons to put on your blog/website) all of which point people back to abort73.com so that they can get real information.  To introduce you to this website, I am going to show a video.

This is one of the videos that I watched and it blew me away!  I hope that you will visit abort73.com because it provides sooo much information that is so helpful in realizing exactly what is going on in our country!
